The RECREATE research project, represented by the University of Patras (UPAT), contributed to the programme at the 13th EASN International Conference on “Innovation in Aviation & Space for opening New Horizons,” which took place from September 5th to 7th, 2023, in Salerno, Italy.
Christina Vogiantzi, a researcher from the UPAT, delivered an insightful presentation titled “On the Definition, Assessment, and Enhancement of Circularity in Different Industrial Sectors: A Literature Survey.”. Christina provided her findings on different definitions of circular economy, as well as the assessment and enhancement of circular economy principles within the five key industries addressed in the project: transportation, wind energy, aeronautics, consumer goods (sport)and industrial coatings industry. In her presentation, she outlined the various activities undertaken within the RECREATE project and the expected results.
Notably, Christina and the UPAT team are at the forefront of Work Package 6 (WP6), titled “Circular Economy and Sustainability Assessment”. WP6 is dedicated to the development and implementation of an integrated Environmental and Socio-Economic Sustainability Assessment for reused and recycled composite parts. They are collaborating with META Circularity (G_MEDIA) to create a Circularity Assessment Tool aimed at evaluating the circular business model potential for business plans involving reused and recycled composite parts and materials. These digital solutions and tools will facilitate the assessment and ranking of available reuse and recycling technologies for FRC materials developed in WP2-4, ultimately accelerating the widespread adoption of circular practices within these industries.
